Federal Deputy Eduardo (PSB-RJ), former president of, filed on Tuesday (29) a project to make the Brazilian National Team Intangible Cultural Heritage, which would prevent changes that could misrepresent it, such as the change of uniform colors.

The project of the former president of Flamengo argues that the symbolic dimension fulfills the requirements of immaterial cultural heritage, as defined by UNESCO and Brazilian law.
“For the Brazilian, football is much more than a sport, entertainment or a business. It is the main point of contact of much of the Brazilian population with reality. And as such, it can be an excellent inducer of public policies,” says the deputy. “The Brazilian team has always been its greatest expression. It is about recognizing its importance and its ability to produce good examples for Brazilians.”
The parliamentarian points out that the recognition of selection as a cultural heritage would limit changes that may misrepresent it, including changes in the colors of the uniform. “Just as the national anthem cannot be changed, one cannot do what he understands with a cultural heritage,” he says.
