The horticultural season is accelerating, and in the second decade of May, synopticists predict rainy weather. After the rain, the land becomes heavy and sticking to the tools, especially a shovel, so even simple horticultural work can turn into a exhausting challenge. However, there are some simple and effective ways to facilitate excavation work and ensure that the earth does not stick to the shovel even after the rain. These tips will be useful for everyone – young gardeners and older people who want to preserve their strength and work in the garden more enjoyable.
What to do to prevent the earth from sticking to the shovel
Tip 1. Timely the blade
A sharp shovel is much easier to penetrate the ground and prevents it from sticking to large clumps. Regular sharpening helps to eliminate small crushing and unevenness where moisture and dirt accumulate. Warehous or sharpening stones are perfect for this. The sharp blade is easier to overcome the soil and reduce the load on the hands. When you sharpen the tool at least once every few weeks, the work will become simpler and more enjoyable.
Tip 2. Clean and grind the shovel surface regularly.
After each use, it is very important to clean all the ground, dirt and dust residue from the shovel. Over time, the left of the earth forms a rough layer, which only further stimulates the adhesion of the Earth. To prevent this, sand with sandpaper or stiff metal brush. A smooth surface reduces friction with soil, making it easier to work even in more difficult conditions.
Tip 3. Use special tools
It can be covered with protective materials to prevent the Earth from sticking to the work part. One of the simplest methods is to rub the shovel blade with vegetable oil or a special ointment agent. Graphite powder, silicone sprays or WD-40 fluid are also perfect for graphite powder. These materials form a thin protective layer that repels dirt and moisture. Regular coating of the tool helps keep it in good condition throughout the season.
Tip 4. Keep the shovel correctly
No less important is where and how you consider your garden tools. If you leave a shovel in a humid place, it will eventually take rust, and the rust Earth will climb even harder. It is best to store the tool in a dry, well -ventilated room. Always clean it well before helping to winter and apply anti -corrosion if necessary. Proper storage will extend the life of the tool and do the work in the garden lighter.
