Osasco won the female volleyball Superleague after 13 years, winning their sixth championship.
In the final played on Thursday (1st), at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, in São Paulo, the team beat Sesi Bauru by 3 sets to 1, with partials from 26/24, 19/25, 28/26 and 25/20.
The title Osasquense also marks the first Superleague won by Tifanny Abreu at the age of 40. She is the first and for now the only trans athlete to play the elite of Brazilian volleyball.
Now Osasco is the second biggest winner of the competition, next to Minas. Sesc RJ/Flamengo leads, with 12 trophies.
The last time the Greater Sao Paulo team had won the League was in the 2011/2012 season, also in Ibirapuera. At that time, two players from the current cast were present, in addition to coach Luizomar de Moura: the Natália tip and Líbero Camila Brait. Natália was elected best player of the competition, while Camila Brait was considered the best of the final.
A game
The first set was a duel between Osasco’s defense and Sesi’s attack. Guided by Libero Camila Brait, the Greater Sao Paulo team started up all the balls and effecting their countergolpes, managing to open 5-1. It was when Henrique Formanesi, Bauruense coach, asked for time.
The efficiency of the Sesi team even improved, but the withdrawal had no effect on the solid reception line of the Osasquense team. Only at the end of the partial, Dani Lins managed to do an ACE and make everything the same at 22 points. Then came the turn in 24-23. Osasco, however, managed to resume the lead and close 26 to 24 with a Tiffany attack.
The rhythm of the second partial was dictated by Sesi, Kasiely and Acosta tips. In a blockade of the Venezuelan, the team opened 8 to 5, forcing the Osasco technician to ask for a while. The team even reacted, gluing on the score at 11 to 12.
However, making a sequence of attacking errors and drawing Kasiely, one of the most consistent past’s past, saw Dani Lins trigger acosta from the network and the background to close the set 25-19.
The third set was pure inconsistency. The Osasquense team started opening 5-0. Sesi drew 9 points. From then on, there was a succession of instability. One team opened some advantage, the other turned.
The attacks fell from yield. Through Osasco, some errors of the Natália tip have disturbed. On the Sesi side, the opposite Bruna Moraes received many balls, but put a few on the floor. In the end, Luizomar’s team fitted a block to close in 28 to 26.
The Osasco fans felt that the players entered the fourth set determined to grasp the championship. The stands of Ibirapuera became a cauldron that resembled the José Liberatti Gymnasium, home of the team in Greater São Paulo.
Tifanny took responsibility for the ball. The pass, commanded by the Mayra and Camila Brait tip was firm. The block also worked.
Sesi felt. Behind the beginning of the partial, the team failed to seek recovery on the scoreboard, with Osasco closing the set in 25 to 20 to stay with the champion cup.
