The 1st staggered lot of 1.3 million vaccines against Covid-19 out of a total of 7.4 million doses arrived on Thursday (1st.MAI.2025) to Brazil. Immunizers were received at Cumbica International Airport in Guarulhos by Minister Alexandre Padilha (Health).

The doses are part of the purchase process of a total of 57 million doses, finalized in 2024. The provision of the contract is 2 years, which ensures the most up-to-date Covid-19 vaccine for this year and the next.

“The delivery happened in just 14 days. Faster than during the pandemic period”said the minister.

For Padilha, speed demonstrates the safety of the company that is providing for the Ministry of Health. The minister also said that this is the most up -to -date vaccine of the moment and immunization will initially serve priority groups.

The vaccine is recommended for children under 5, elderly, pregnant women and special groups such as immunocompromised, riverside, quilombolas and people with comorbidities. The adult population that has not yet taken any dose should also be vaccinated.

Distribution and delivery of vaccines should start next week. First, the states receive the doses, which are passed on to the municipalities.

Accompanied by Zé Gotinha, a symbol of vaccination in the country, Padilha also recalled the importance of influenza vaccination.

“We want to vaccinate more and more, but it is important that priority groups are vaccinated before the holiday period”said the minister.

According to him, more than 110,000 schools have already joined the mobilization to update the students’ vaccination book.
