United States President Donald Trump said all Iranian oil purchases or petrochemical products should stop and any country or person who purchases Iran’s products will be immediately subject to secondary sanctions.

“They will not be able to do business with the United States in any way, manner or way,” the Republican wrote on Truth Social on Thursday.

Trump’s comments take place after the postponement of the latest US negotiations with Iran on its nuclear program, which were scheduled to take place in Rome on Saturday. A high -ranking Iranian authority told Reuters that a new date will be defined “depending on the US approach.”

Purchase of Iranian oil needs to stop and talk about sanctions to buyers

Trump’s government has aimed at Tehran with a series of sanctions to entities, including a China -based gross oil storage terminal and an independent refinator that the US accused of being involved in the illicit oil and petrochemical trade.

Secondary sanctions are those in which a country seeks to punish another country for negotiating with a third, blocking access to its own market, a particularly powerful tool for the United States due to the size of its economy.

According to analysts, to actually repress Iran’s oil exports, the US would have to impose secondary sanctions on entities such as Chinese banks that make it easier to buy Iranian oil. China is the largest Iranian gross oil buyer.
