The rush to the jury is huge, only those who have an admission card comes in. The process has been dominating the headlines for two weeks, and now – on May 2, 1925 – it goes to the final. No murderer, no robber, but a manager sits on the dock. Arthur Fried, general director of the anchor bread factory, is accused of selling bread too expensive. He is said to have made excessive profits at a time when many live in Bitterer poverty in Vienna. Fried no longer understands the world.
