Lenny Lax, a seven -year -old boy from Stockport, died on April 5 after more than a two -year struggle with the insidious brain disease. His story is a warning for parents and the public that even seemingly innocent symptoms such as headaches or nausea can hide a serious diagnosisinforms the diary
The first symptoms of Lenny appeared as early as 2022, when he began to suffer from recurrent headaches and vomiting. Initially, these manifestations were attributed to common virosis. It was only during a routine eye examination that the experts at the school recorded warning signals that led to CT examination. This revealed a tumor on the brain size of an adult fist. The boy then quickly transported to the Royal Manchester, where he underwent an urgent operation.
It was followed by several cycles of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and finally the inclusion in a clinical study of an experimental drug. “It was the worst 12 hours of my life. He just returned a few days ago and then told us he had less than a year of life. At the moment you would switch to a survival mode – you just fight,” his mother Sophie told Manchester Evening News.
Lenny underwent radiotherapy every day during six -week cycles. However, the side effects caused serious bone damage – so much that it was repeatedly broken. In January 2025, a turning point came – the control imaging revealed a massive spread of the disease in the brain.
“It looked as if fireworks exploded in his head,” his mother described the tragic moment. Finally, doctors told the family that medicine no longer has other options for him. In the last weeks of his life, his parents have decided to fulfill Lenny’s wishes and give him the experiences he longed for.
