A tornado reached the village of Porto Peles on Friday morning, in the parish of Nossa Senhora das Neves, municipality of Beja, causing “a lot of destruction”, according to the Volunteer Firefighters of Beja.
The phenomenon, recorded on video by Helder Fava, caused damage to infrastructures, roofs, telecommunications network and trees, some of which were torn or departed by the force of the wind.
António Guerreiro, according to the commander of local firefighters, said the losses are still being accounted for and has not ruled out the possibility of existing dislocated people.
