According to Prado, the initiative seeks to identify any initiative addictions and, thus, reduce the incidence of vetoes by the executive. On the government side, the Civil House participates.
Prado also asked Alesp’s General Secretariat to study the vetoes, with the purpose of analyzing the relevance of each proposal and verifying, for example, if some of them have already been contemplated by another legislation.
Survey made by Sheet In January this year shows that between 2023 and 2024, the governor vetoed 200 projects approved by the legislature, 145 total and 55 partial vetoes.
Behind him, according to the survey, are Geraldo Alckmin, with 128 vetoes in 2011 and 2012, and João Doria, responsible for 116 vetoes in 2019 and 2020.
At the time, the Civil House told the Sheet that the vetoes are given for technical and legal reasons, usually with devices in disagreement with constitutional rules or contrary to the public interest.
