Formula 1 extends Miami Grand Prix contract for 10 years

Agreement signed with the promoter of the event guarantees the permanence of the race by 2041

Formula 1 guaranteed Miami’s GP (Grand Prix) permanence on the official calendar by 2041. The announcement was made on Saturday (3.MAI.2025), after signing a 10 -year length in the contract with South Florida Motorsports, promoter of the event. With the renewal, the race in Florida has the longest contract among all events in the category calendar.

The extension occurs after only 3 seasons since the Miami GP premiere on the F1 calendar in 2022. The 5.41 km circuit, built around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, has 19 curves and 3 straights where pilots can reach speeds of up to 320 km/h.

In the first 3 years of holding, the event generated more than $ 1 billion in economic impact for the region. The 2024 edition established an audience record with 275,000 spectators present over the weekend. The television broadcast of the race has reached 3.1 million viewers in the United States, the largest number ever recorded for an F1 race in the country.

Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the inaugural race in 2022 and then won another victory in 2023, before Briton Lando Norris received the checkered flag in 2024.

The place that hosts the GP will also receive 7 FIFA World Cup matches (International Football Federation) of 2026. Hard Rock Stadium is the home of Miami Dolphins- a football team- and also hosts ATP and WTA Miami Open, tennis tournaments.

The history of Miami GP winners includes Max Verstappen, who won the 2022 and 2023 editions, and Lando Norris, who won the race in 2024, winning his first victory in the category. ”

The decision to extend the contract was based on the success of the event in its early years. In addition to sports impact, the organizers highlighted the economic importance of race for the region, with internship programs, partnerships with charitable institutions and local business promotion.
