Labor Party gets reelection; Sympathetic coalition to the US led the election to US tariffs

The Labor Party (Center left) of the current Prime Minister Anthony Albanese won on Saturday (3.MAI.2025) the elections in Australia. The party has been in power since 2022.

The victory against the liberal-national coalition, headed by Peter Dutton, was tightened and involved a number of factors outside Australian policies, especially the commercial tariffs adopted by the President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican).

Since January this year, electoral polls indicated an advantage of conservatives against labor. The scenario began to reverse in March, when the White House announced a series of unilateral measures against business partners.

In April, when Trump announced a tariff package against almost every country, the polls had already turned to the labor side.

The case is similar to that of Canada, where former prime minister Justin Trudeau (center left) dehydrated and a movement that seemed to surrender the country to the opposition, but in the end resulted in.

Elections in the 2 countries coincided with Trump’s decision to announce unilateral tariffs against business partners. Canada and Australia were affected by the measure.

Like the Poder360Trump’s arrival in US power and the policies adopted by the White House seem to strengthen those who oppose him in other countries.
