The geraniums, also known as Pelargonia, are among the most popular balcony flowers thanks to its rich and long inflorescence. But to actually benefit, they need regular nutrition. And ordinary milk can be a surprisingly effective natural fertilizer. Just know how to do it.
Pelargonia, folk known as geraniums, are among the most popular flowers on Czech balconies, window sills and gardens. You will appreciate them mainly for their rich and long -lasting inflorescence, which will last from May until the first autumn frosts. Although it is often said that geraniums are undemanding and durable, if you want to achieve really strong growth, saturated colors of flowers and healthy leaves, you need a little more care. It is not enough just to water regularly and place them in a sunny place. Nutrition also has a great effect on the condition of the plant. And here comes an interesting yet simple trick! Fertilization with ordinary milk. This natural remedy, which virtually everyone has at home, can deliver the necessary nutrients and support them in flowering and resistance to disease.

How to fertilize geranium with milk
Thus, the fertilization of milk nutmeg is a simple, cheap and effective way to supply the plants the necessary nutrients and prolong their flowering time. All you need is a common cow’s milk, which is missing almost in any household. Milk contains not only calcium, but also other trace elements that can positively support the growth and vitality of plants. Thanks to these substances, milk watering can help prevent premature blossoms of flowers, improve the overall appearance of the plant and strengthen its resistance to external influences.
Preparation of homemade milk fertilizer is very easy. Mix approximately 100 milliliters of milk with 1 liter of water, ideally lukewarm to better absorb the nutrients. Then use this mixture instead of conventional watering and pour it evenly to the roots of the plants. It is important not to apply the mixture to the leaves to avoid damaging or formation of molds. Repeat fertilization approximately once a month, or more often in a period of intense growth or flowering.
In order to make maximum benefits of milk fertilizer, it is recommended to alternate the milk mixture with normal water. This procedure makes it possible to better regulate nutrient intake and at the same time minimizes the risk of over -fertilization. Regular use of milk watering can visibly support the richness of flowering and overall health of plants. The result is a lively, strong plant that will make the whole summer happy. And without having to reach for chemical products.
