Six people died in the Hindu temple in the Indian Goa, Indian state on Saturday during the popular religious ritual of walking on fire. According to AFP, TASR writes about it.
The Prime Minister of the Regional Government in the coastal state of the Sawant said in a statement that he is “deeply saddened by a tragic crush” in the Lairai Devi Temple in the village of Širgao on Saturday early morning local time.
Six crush victims
“Six people died before they could take them to the hospital,” Sawant told reporters. He visited other injured in the hospital and promised to families killed or injured “all possible support”.
The Minister of Health Goa Višvajit Rane said that the injured was “about 80” people. “Five of them are in critical condition and are connected to artificial lung ventilation, while others are treated in a specially created emergency department,” he said.
