Nickname appeared in 2009, during the production of the album The Fame Monster
The City of Rio de Janeiro estimates an audience of 1.6 million people for the free show on Saturday (3) in. Gaga worshipers are known worldwide as “Little Monsters” (small monsters). The nickname appeared in 2009, during the production of the album The Fame Monster. At the time, Gaga used the concept of monsters to represent his own fears related to fame. The term soon became popular in the performances of the tour and was adopted by the fans.
In an interview with the magazine In MagazineGaga explained, “I named my” Little Monsters “fans because they were fierce at the shows, shouted loudly, wore amazing clothes, and had a lot of fun celebrating the music.” The success of the expression led the singer to be called “Mother Monster”, a title she started using after hearing her nickname for the first time during a concert in Chicago in 2010.
Another striking symbol of the fan community is the gesture of the hands -shaped hands, inspired by the music video Bad Romance (2009). The clip’s choreography includes dancers raising hands with curved fingers, gesture that fans adopted and popularized as a greeting, using the expression “paws up” (paws up). This Saturday’s show is part of the everyone project in Rio and is scheduled to start at 9:45 pm.
