War in Ukraine: Russian drones offensive leaves 40 injured in Kharkiv

Russia launched a mass attack with drones on Friday night (2) in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. The air offensive hit an apartment building, which caught fire. At least 40 people were injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, said in the Telegram messaging app that 12 targets were hit in four districts of Kharkiv, a city near the border with Russian territory.

The politician also said that a house was also hit.

According to regional governor Oleh Syniehubov, the number of injured can still increase. Seven of them undergo treatment at the hospital.

In the city of Kherson, in the south of the country, a resident died while carrying a dropped drone away from home, according to Ukrainian officials.

Russian side attacks

The Russian Ministry of Defense, in turn, reported that the country’s air defense units destroyed 10 drones in one hour, eight on the border region of Bryansk and two over Crimea, Black Sea Peninsula attached by Moscow in 2014.
