Almost 5,000 years later, the body of an elite Caral woman is still preserved

The remains of a woman in the elite were unearthed in an old fishing village in the Lima region of Peru. The woman’s skin, hair and nails were preserved, making this finding incredibly rare in Peruvian archaeological records.

The tomb was discovered on the archaeological site of Ago, which was used by the Caral civilization – a little known society that existed between 3000 and 1800 AC And that some experts consider the oldest civilization in the Americas – thousands of years ago.
