The Houthis do Yemen, Iran-backed rebel group, claimed responsibility for a missile launched against Israeli airport Ben Gurion on Sunday (4), the group’s military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a televised statement.
Saree reiterated the warning to airlines that “is no longer safe for air travel.”
In a statement after the attack, Israel’s Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, said, “Whoever harms us will be harmed seven times more.”
Sirens were activated across the center of minutes before the fall, including near the great town of Tel Aviv.
A Reuters reporter at the airport, located between, heard sirens and saw passengers reacting running toward safe rooms.
The Israeli ambulance service said eight people were being taken to the hospital, including a moderate man with limb -injuries and two light -wound women with head injuries.
A spokesman for Israel’s airport authority said the takeoffs and landings resumed and operations in Ben Gurion returned to normal after reports of air traffic interruption and blockade airport access routes.
However, flight operations were interrupted due to the missile, according to Ben Gurion’s live air traffic site.
Some flights, including Air India, Tus Airways and Lufthansa Group, were canceled. Others, including those for American airports in Newark and JFK, suffered delays of about 90 minutes. A Reuters reporter embarked on a flight to Dubai who was on time.
