Israel accuses Qatar of "double play" in the negotiations about hostages in Gaza

The Prime Minister stated that “Israel is waging a fair war with righteous means” and that “after the atrocities of October 7 [de 2023] “, Israeli leadership” defined the war of redemption as a war between civilization and barbarism “

The Israeli Prime Minister urged Qatar on Saturday, one of the countries involved in indirect negotiations with the Hamas group, “stopping the double game” in relation to the hostages detained by the Palestinian extremists in Gaza.

“The time has come for Qatar to stop the double game with his small conversation,” said Benjamin Netanyahu, in a statement published on his official account on social network X and quoted by the Spanish agency Europa Press.

Netanyahu concluded reiterating that “Israel will overcome this just war with righteous means.”

Israelite sources recently stated that Qatar is pressuring Hamas so that he does not accept the proposal presented by Egypt (another of the negotiation mediators), claiming that he could obtain better conditions.

However, Qatar denied this information. THE It has been the target of an Israeli offensive since the attack by the Palestinian extremist group Hamas against Israel of October 7, 2023, which caused about 1,200 dead and 251 hostages.

Of the 251 people kidnapped on that day, 58 remain retained in Gaza, of which 34 were declared killed by the Israeli army. Hamas also retains the body of an Israelite soldier killed in a previous war in Gaza in 2014.

Israeli retaliation caused more than 52,400 dead and the destruction of most of the territory infrastructures governed since 2007 by Hamas, considered a terrorist group by Israel, the United States and the European Union. On March 18, the Israelite authorities broke a ceasefire agreed in January with Hamas.

Since then, bombing has caused at least 2,326 dead and 6,050 injured, according to the Ministry of Health of Gaza. Prior to unilaterally breaking the truce, Israel had already imposed on 2 March a blockade to enter humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, which remains in force.

On Friday, the United Nations Assistance Agency for Palestinian Refugees (Unrwa) accused Israel of “collective punishment” and “siege against the people of Gaza” after two months of blockade.

Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner General, wrote that the siege is “against children, women, the elderly and the civil men.”

“They are collectively punished for being born and living in Gaza, something that does not depend on them,” lamented the representative on social networks.

The Unrwa head said that Israel has to raise the siege and allow basic supplies to enter. It has been going on that “with each passing day, the siege silently kills more children and women, beyond those who are killed by the Israeli bombing” in Enclave.

In another message about two months of Israeli blockade, the UN agency said food provisions are scarce and that aid remains blocked outside Gaza, ready to be transported.
