Kremlin said on Saturday that he wanted what he called Ukraine’s “definitive” response to Russian President Vladimir Putin, a three-day ceasefire to coincide with the celebrations of World War II victory this month.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy already seems to have discarded such a ceasefire, saying he is only ready to agree if the ceasefire lasts at least 30 days, an idea that, according to Putin, needs a lot of work before he comes true.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Putin’s three-day offer was a test to evaluate Kiev’s readiness to seek a peaceful solution to end the war.

Putin declared on Monday a three-day ceasefire to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union victory and his allies in World War II.

Kremlin said the 72-hour ceasefire would take place on May 8 and 9-when Putin will receive international leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, for celebrations in memory of the Nazi Germany-and on May 10.

Peskov also commented on media reports that Ukrainian soldiers will participate in the celebrations of World War II in Britain, calling the attitude of “sacrilege.”
