How to keep bees out of
First, it is important to know that bees will follow the sweet scent of nectar. Therefore, when you prepare homemade nectar, dilute the mixture and add more water than sugar. It is ideal to fill the fountain with one part of sugar and four parts of clean water. The less the mixture in the drinking fountain, the less the bees will appear to be. Birds will therefore be able to enjoy fresh water for themselves and will not be annoyed by the buzzing of bees.
The second advice is to prevent insects from accessing sugar water. In this, it will help you to know that bees are only 0.6 centimeters long. Birds’ beaks are much longer. Therefore, when you need to prevent bees, just keep the liquid less than a centimeter from the hole. Most of the fountains have pads to prevent insects to get to them. If your drinking pad does not have this protector or you have lost it, you can make a new one using pieces of tubing. All you have to do is put the feeder in the holes and you’re done.
Move the fountain
Bees live with routine lives. So if you see in the garden that bees are clustering every day at the fountain, try to disrupt their routine by moving it. It is ideal to put the fountain in the shadow, because the bees prefer the sun. Put the drinking fountain regularly. Maybe the bees eventually give up. And when they find the fountain, move them again. In this way, the birds should have their free space where they can drink sweet nectar and if it wasn’t for the disturbing of bee uninvited guests.
