Keep both: the possibility of subsidies for those who want a heat pump but your own gas boiler

While the cost of natural gas heating has a range between about 25 and 35 thousand crowns per year, for electric heaters the costs rise to astronomical amounts and can climb up to 70 thousand crowns. It is therefore no wonder that the heat pump is increasingly settled in Czech households. Here heating costs are between 15 and 25 thousand crowns (We draw data from note. red.). Taking into account the lowest limit of electric heaters and comparing it with the cost of heat pump, simple numbers come to the fact that the heat pump is more than three times cheaper. And that’s a noticeable difference.

You can keep a gas boiler

The Ministry of the Environment has now sanctified subsidies for heat pumps even on condition that it does not replace the gas boilers and the owner of the property can keep it. The condition for successfully obtaining a subsidy is to use the heat pump as the main source of heating. And why shouldn’t you get rid of the gas boiler? The reason is a bit in technology. Although the heat pump seems to be an ecological solution, in the case of stronger frosts, it may have difficulty supplying heat in sufficient quantities. And this is the moment when the situation saves the gas boiler.

What is the heat pump

It is a device that can convert heat from outer space such as air, water or ground in, into a building, say. The heat is converted to a higher thermal level due to the compression of the refrigerant vapor in the compressor, with its warming up. This is not a big novelty, with the principle of the heat pump function came already Cale von Linde at the end of the last century. On this principle, for example, refrigerators, where the process is set upside down, so the refrigerator cools its interior space.

The heat pump pays off when you live in a family house with partial insulation and use electricity or gas as a heat source. To work, it needs its own source of electricity, but it does not burn or change the heat. As we have already mentioned, it converts air, water or draws on the ground into heat, using renewable energy sources in other words.
