If you have already postponed an appointment, let rice burn or even pretend a headache just so as not to lose the last chapter of that soap opera, know that you are not alone.

The soap operas are part of the Brazilian DNA, and their outcomes are true national events. Let’s remember six finals that stopped the country:

6 moments that Brazil stopped to see the end of a soap opera

1. Avenida Brasil (2012)

On October 19, 2012, Brazil stopped to watch the outcome of Nina’s revenge against Carminha.

With peaks of 63 points in Ibope and 83% share in Rio de Janeiro, the last chapter of Avenida Brasil was a phenomenon of audience. The plot generated so much expectation that until then President Dilma Rousseff changed her schedule so as not to lose the final episode.

2. The Ten Commandments (2015)

Record’s biblical soap opera won the public with special effects and an epic narrative.

On October 29, 2015, the chapter that showed the opening of the Red Sea led the audience, surpassing the National Journal and the 21h soap opera of Globo. The success was such that the plot generated a movie and a musical.

3. Opposite lives (2007)

The Record soap opera addressed the confrontation between the favela and the asphalt, bringing out relevant social issues.

The last chapter, aired in 2007, scored 25 points on Ibope, being the largest audience ever recorded by a Record soap opera chapter since the resumption of dramaturgy in 2004.

During the pandemic, the replay of totally too much won the again.

The last chapter, aired October 9, 2020, dug 29 points on Ibope, surpassing the original exhibition audience and becoming the biggest success of the time since 2012.

5. The Great Family (2014)

Although not a soap opera, the last episode of the Grand Family series, aired in 2014, deserves to be featured.

The farewell of the Silva family thrilled the audience and generated great repercussion on social networks, with the hashtag #Prampregrandefamily appearing among the most talked about subjects on Twitter.

6. Or Clone (2002)
