After 31 years of mystery, a new global race for the golden owl begins

French artist Michel Becker will hide a new gold owl – the legendary treasure sought for 31 years.

French artist Michel Becker will hide a new “golden owl”-the famous treasure that thousands of fans have sought for 31 years and was found only in 2024. The Times reports about this.

Unlike the first gold owl, which was sought exclusively in France, the new treasure hunt will take place globally and will include the US, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and several other countries. According to the organizer, the new owl will be made of gold covered with gold, and its value is estimated at between 200,000 and 300,000 euros. It is more valuable than the original.

The clues that will help find treasure will be published in September or October. Becker hopes that the second owl will be found faster than the first. He is 75 years old now and acknowledges that he may not take the end of the new hunter.

Becker created the first owl in 1993, at the age of 43. He also illustrated the book “On the footsteps of the Golden Owl”, written by Régis Hauser. In that book were 12 riddles leading to the treasure. At least 200,000 people around the world have tried to solve them, but the riddles proved to be extremely difficult.

On October 3, 2024, it became known that the first gold owl was finally found. The solutions were disclosed in a documentary broadcast in France in early May 2025.
