Block discusses space regulation to avoid conflict, ensure equal access and reduce risks
BRICS is seeking to coordinate the efforts of its space agencies to propose the regulation of terrestrial orbit activities, according to the international advisor of (National Telecommunications Agency) Ronaldo Moura. He says countries seek a “Fair Occupation” and that the urgency of treating the matter only increased.
“Low orbits are being rapidly occupied by satellites that use new technologies, it is less costly for users, but creates conflict. Everyone needs equal rights to use.”
The Low Earth orbit, or Leo (from English Low Earth Orbit), It is the space of space between around 160 to 2,000 kilometers above the earth’s surface, where most of the observation of the earth, telecommunications and the internet operate. Moura says that Brazil has always been “hero” in the debate on spatial sustainability. He states that the working group discusses concern with spatial waste and scarce resource management, especially the equitable access of all countries. “We can also spend all the resources, ”he says.

Bloc member countries have until May 20 to send notes and suggestions for the declaration.
