Dissatisfied with the decisions of the Central Bank, under presidency of Gabriel Galipolo, will make a protest against the increase on Tuesday (6), at 10 am, on the sidewalk of the building of Avenida Paulista.
The mobilization has been articulated by CUT (Single Workers’ Central), Força Sindical, UGT (General Union of Workers), CTB (Central of Workers of Brazil), CSB (Central of Brazilian Unions), NCST (Nova Central), Intersindical (Working Class Center) and Public (Server Central). All entities support the Lula administration.
“Today, the centrals support the Lula administration, but the high interest rate has nothing to do with the government. Our focus is the Central Bank,” says Miguel Torres, president of Força Sindical.
To the panel, CTB Presidents Adilson Araújo, Ricardo Patah, from UGT, and Sérgio Nobre, CUT, as well as Torres, demonstrate disappointment with Galipole’s performance, nominated for Central Bank by President Lula.
“Since the previous president of the Central Bank [] We are suffering from the very high interest rates, there was an expectation that would change with the new president [Gabriel Galípolo]But we are on a dangerous path, “says the Força Sindical manager.” This greatly affects the investment in production. “
Since March, the Basic Interest Rate (Selic) has been at 14.25% per year, the same level reached during the Dilma Rousseff government crisis (PT). A.
Nobre states that there is no reasons for the escalation of interest, and economists consulted by the Central Bank itself reduced the basic rate forecast for the first time this year, according to
“We expected that [Galípolo] Having a new mindset, there is no reason for the rate to arrive at this level. There are other ways to combat inflation when interest rates increase the entire economy, “says the CUT leader.
Patah considers that the central bank board “is far from people on the streets” and asks for sensitivity. “Last year, we hit the Central Bank, we imagined that they were to change the interpretation and it has been the same thing. The harmed is always the worker,” says the UGT leader.
For Araújo, from CTB, Copom has served as Faria Lima’s “butler”. “Gabriel Galipolo’s predictions are out of the curve. It is a contradictedness to sponsor a plastering of development and industrial production,” says the unionist.
“Warns the Galipole that the ‘God Mercado’ does not know and is little concerned about the cost of rice and beans in the supermarket,” Araújo continued.
