Representative Daniela Carneiro (União Brasil-RJ) filed a petition in the Supreme Court (STF) a petition requesting the immediate removal of Ednaldo Rodrigues from the presidency of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) and the review of the agreement approved by the court in February this year that closes an action questioning the electoral process of the entity.

The document was presented on Monday night (5) and received by the office of Minister Gilmar Mendes, rapporteur of the action that discussed the legitimacy of the Public Prosecution Service to sign TACS (Conduct Adjustment Terms) with sports entities, such as the CBF.

The parliamentarian, former Minister of Tourism in the government of President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), based her request on a report that questions the authenticity of Colonel Nunes’ signing in the agreement signed earlier this year.

In the document, Daniela Carneiro attached a report that Nunes’s signature in the agreement “was not made free and consciously and under full mental faculties” and “reasonable doubts about the authenticity of the signature.”

The content of the petition was initially released by the portal Léo Dias and confirmed by the Sheet. The expertise cited in the document was commissioned by Councilman Marcos Dias (Somos-RJ) and signed by the expert Jacqueline Tirotti, from Tirotti Judicial Expertise and Assessments.

In a statement, the CBF reaffirmed the legitimacy of its processes and questioned the report.

“The CBF clarifies that it has not yet had formal access to that expert report, allegedly signed by a private expert, which is being used media and hastically,” says the note. “The CBF emphasizes that all acts related to the agreement mentioned were conducted within the legality and with the participation of duly legitimized representatives,” adds the entity.

In addition to Colonel Nunes, the term signed the Minas Gerais Football Federation, former president of CBF Rogério Caboclo, and the then vices of the organization Antonio Carlos Nunes, Fernando Sarney, Gustavo Feijó and Castellar Guimarães Neto. By the agreement, none of them could question the electoral process that led Ednaldo to the presidency in March 2022.

In March this year, the leader was reelected for another term, from March 2026 until March 2030.

In February, with the approval of the agreement, Minister Gilmar Mendes filed the action. However, Minister Flávio Dino, who asked for a view in October 2024, said he finished analyzing the case. With this, the president of the Supreme Court, Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, released ADI to be judged on the 28th of this month.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reiterates its commitment to transparency, legality and good faith in all its institutional actions and decisions.

Given the recent news in the press on alleged vice of will in signature in the agreement approved by the Supreme Court (STF), which recognized the legitimacy of President Ednaldo Rodrigues, the CBF clarifies that it has not yet had formal access to the expert report, supposedly assigned by a particular expert, which is being used in a media and precipitated manner, in true spectacularization that meets nothing interests Republicans and apparently questioned by third parties absolutely foreign to the process.

The CBF emphasizes that all acts related to the agreement mentioned were conducted within the legality and with the participation of duly legitimized representatives. The process was legitimate and had an approved agreement.

It is absolutely untrue that this process has been reopened at the request of a parliamentarian.

The CBF fully trusts in the Brazilian court and remains available to the competent authorities to clarify any doubts that eventually arise. The entity is still focused on its mission of promoting Brazilian football with seriousness, professionalism and respect for institutions and with absolute tranquility that all principles of good management and probity are daily respected.
