These flowers that are a permanent element of the Polish landscape hide great power. Few people know that you can prepare a delicious jelly from them, which will taste adults and children, and at the same time do wonders for the body.
Dandelion It is commonly called milk or dandelion – it is a common view on Polish lawns and meadows. We pass it indifferently on a daily basis, treating as an ordinary element of the landscape and even weed. Many people do not realize that this inconspicuous perennial is a real remedy for many ailments.
What properties do dandelion flowers have? They contain many active ingredients such as xanthophylls, flavonoids, vitamin C, as well as minerals that support liver health, bile ducts and digestive system.
If you are struggling with digestive problems, such as flatulence or constipation, you can find relief in dandelion. This plant also supports the cleansing of the body of toxins, thanks to which it improves the condition of the skin. In addition, rich in vitamin C Dandelion perfectly strengthens the body’s immunity.
The dandelion also has a diuretic effect and speeds up the wound healing process. It should also reach for it ladies struggling with irregular menstrual cycles – thanks to this plant it is possible to restore hormonal balance.
So how do you introduce this healthy plant into your diet? Popular options are tea or syrup, but there is one more way. Małgorzata Lorenz, who and her husband runs on YouTube, @Perma-Culture channel, gives a recipe for a delicious dandelion jelly. Ideally suited as an addition to pancakes or cakes – it’s worth a try.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of dandelion petals,
- 4 cups of water,
- 2 cups of sugar,
- 60 g pectin (or agar),
- 2 g of saffron,
- All -lemon juice.
Put the petals in the jarspour boiling water and leave it.
After cooling, put them in the fridge for 24 hours.
After this time, strain the flakes – pour dandelion water into a pot, add juice from all the lemon and pectin, bring to a boil.
We add sugar and cook jelly for about 2 minutes.
Then pour into smaller jars. You can keep them in the fridge or pasteurized for 10 minutes.
