OpenAi’s decision to abandon its restructuring plans as one was not enough to contain the clash with Elon Musk. In a statement issued on Monday night (5), the billionaire lawyer, Marc Toberoff, said that the measure “does not change anything”, and again accused the deleted use company of the original Foundation.

“Openai’s announcement is a transparent maneuver that does not address the main issues: charity assets have been and will still be transferred to the benefit of private people, including [Sam] Altman, his investors and Microsoft, ”said Toberoff.

The answer occurs hours after OpenAi officially communicates its intention to become a public benefit corporation – a profitable company hybrid model and public mission. The change would maintain control under the non -profit foundational structure created in 2015. The proposal was presented in a video conferencing with journalists, without direct mention to the process brought by Musk.

During the meeting, OpenAi CEO Sam Altman avoided polemizing. “We are obsessed with our mission and what it takes to fulfill it. You are obsessed with Elon-this is your work. But we are here to reflect on our mission and find out how to make it viable. And this mission has not changed,” he said.

Elon Musk, one of OpenAi’s founders and first funders, sued the company and Altman in March this year. In the process, the entrepreneur claims that the company would have betrayed its original commitment to develop a safe and public artificial intelligence by signing a trade alliance with Microsoft.
