The 11th edition of OPTO-Algarve Education and Training Forum starts this Wednesday, May 7, in Albufeira, and promises to attract thousands of students from all over the region. The event runs until Friday, being organized by the Albufeira City Council, in partnership with the Directorate of Services of the Algarve Region of the Directorate-General of School Establishments and the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP), with the support of the groups of schools in the county.
The president of the municipality, José Carlos Rolo, stresses that “Opto has played an important role with the younger ones, at a determining time for decision making about their future.”
Opto is already consolidated as the main education and training forum of the south of the country. This year’s edition takes place at the Albufeira Sports Pavilion and has the confirmed presence of dozens of entities. During the three days of the event, the participation of thousands of students is expected, in an initiative that aims to clarify and guide young people regarding the educational and professional possibilities at their disposal.
At a time when many young people face crucial decisions about their academic and professional path, Opto seeks to present a wide range of options through the participation of various entities that will be present in their own stands, where they will expose their work and provide clarification to interested students.
José Carlos Rolo also points out that “the bet that has been made in education also involves the creation of moments that enable the younger ones to contact directly with entities from different areas”. He adds: “It is essential to support young people at this time of their lives, trying to make each one then make good decisions for their future.”
As in previous editions, the event enclosure will feature several thematic spaces and a diverse program. The program includes more than 100 activities, distributed by various points in the venue, ranging from institutional demonstrations to recreational, sports and musical moments. About 70 entities will be present, representing different areas of training and professional opportunities.
The vice-mayor of Albufeira, Cristiano Cabrita, who holds the youth and entrepreneurship, stresses that “events such as Opto are at the center of the municipality’s strategy”. It also underlines the “interest that participating entities have expressed in present, year after year, in an event that turns out to be an excellent space for talent capture”.
