Orbán criticizes the EU for the support of Ukraine, claiming that joining the Union is not a good trade.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Tuesday on Facebook responded to criticism by the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Manfred Weber, who blamed Budapest for blocking the ambitions of Ukraine to enter the EU. He added that as the Hungarians had the right to join the Union, so it was also Ukrainians. This is reported by TASR newsletter in Budapest.
“Ukraine’s accession to the EU is not a good trade, Ukraine is not an added value, but it will mean a crash,” Orbán wrote in response. Hungary was admitted to the Union because it was in favor of EU Member States. “It was a good business, even for Germany, Mr. Weber,” he added.
Criticism of European support
“It is a huge mistake to send European money to Ukraine instead of being used to strengthen the European economy that is worried. It is time for European leaders to represent the interests of European people, Mr. Weber!” The Hungarian Prime Minister writes.
