Pete Hegseth used the signal to inform foreign governments about military operations

Signalgate has new developments

The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, used the application of multiple signal encrypted messages to Pentagon official issues, having participated in at least 12 different conversations ,.

Several messages sent in the name of Hegseth, such as those shared in a group that the ruler had with his wife, brother and lawyer about the attack on the rebels Houthis, were sent by his military advisor, Colonel Ricky Buria, who had access to the personal mobile phone of the current ruler and former Fox News host. None of the 13 members of this group had any official reason to access the information that was shared there.

According to the publication, the Pentagon head instructed his advisers in an encrypted conversation to inform foreign governments about a ongoing military operation.

Pete Hegseth also used the messaging service to discuss apparitions in the media, but also trips to foreigners and other elements of his agenda, according to two people familiar with Hegseth management practices.

Among the messages published in several of the defense secretary’s chats were his ideas about Pentagon’s cuts or debate discussions about national security between members of the administration.

The Pentagon is investigating the use of Signal application by Hegseth, after the scandal that shook the American administration when the then security counselor Mike Waltz added the chief editor of Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, to the group that coordinated the American attack on the Houthis rebels in Yemen.

The scandal has increased the debate about the use of safe communication channels among members of the administration, as the Pentagon has a vast network of safe communications. The signal, the application of messages chosen by many of the members of the Administration, despite being encrypted, does not store messages in their servers, which makes it difficult to preserve records required by law.
