Portugal registers the highest price of domestic Gas European Union (EU), in parity of purchasing power. Poland, Hungary and Croatia have the lowest prices.

In the EU, according to data from the European statistical service, the average gas price for domestic consumption – including rates and taxes – increased, in the second half of the year, for the 12 euros, either at 11.24 euros of the same period, wants to compare with the 1.68 euros per 100 kWh registered between January and June 2024.
This increase – for the highest value of gas prices for home use since the beginning of the series (2008) – interrupted a series of three semiannual setbacks.
Expressed in parity of purchasing power, Portugal registeredbetween July and December 2024, the higher price of domestic gas (16.6 euros per kWh) -Above the counterpart (16.3 euros) and the previous semester (14.42 euros) -, followed by Italy (16.49) and Sweden (16.08).
Os lower prices were, for their part, paid by domestic gas consumers in the Poland (4.72 euros per 100 kWh), Hungary (6.67 euros) and Croatia (5,57 euros).
In euros, Sweden registered the highest prices, with 18.93 euros per 100 kWh, followed by the Netherlands (16.71 euros) and Italy (15.86 euros), with Portugal in fourth place (13.66 euros/kWh).
On the other hand, Hungary (3.20 euros per 100 kWh), Croatia (4.60 euros) and Romania (5.40 euros) recorded the lower prices.
According to Eurostat, the increase in gas prices for domestic consumption is largely due to increased taxes in many EU countries, as previous relief measures have been reduced.
