The Council of this television dismissed from the position of CEO: a serious mistake?!

On Tuesday, the Czech Television Council (CT) on Tuesday, May 7, dismissed Jan Souček, Director General of CT. He has been in this position since October 2023. 15 out of 17 members of the Council voted in the secret election for Souček’s appeal, two were against. Even before the vote, the Council adopted a resolution that The CEO did not inform her about important matters, notifying them to the media. Among other things, he claimed that it was blackmailed by two members of the Council in two different matters. He was supposed to arrange the end of the moderator of the political discussions of Václav Moravc and stop recovering the damage from some members of the Council for the unlawful dismissal of the Supervisory Commission in 2020.

In this context, he mentioned Pavel Matoch and Luboš Xaver Veselý. Matocha refused his words and Veselý said that Souček was lying. Already in March 14 out of 17 members of the Council awarded Souček remorse, For example, criticism of above -standard payments for outgoing employees or its duration for the practice of stealing contracts.

Until the appointment of the new head of CT, the statutory representative, the director of the Corporate Service Division, will lead the public service television, Michal Fila. He had previously served as the chief of the broadcast of the CT 24 news channel.

The CT Council has three months to elected a new director. Already, according to iDNES.cz speculation about candidates: In addition to CT Director Petr Zrdena or its program director Milan Frederick, the names of moderator Jakub Železný or the ex -gigs of the publishing house of CNC Libuše Šmuclerová are also mentioned.
