Ukrainian forces attacked an electric substation in the Russian Kursk region, the local governor Alexander Chinštejn announced on Tuesday. According to governor, the attack claimed three dead, writes TASR according to Reuters and Sky News.

Chinštejn informed on the Telegram platform that two transformers were damaged on Monday’s Ukrainian attack and seven people suffered injuries. After the attack on the substation, electricity supplies to Ryľsk were also interrupted.

The Kursk region administration said on Tuesday morning that it was evacuated for the growing number of Ukrainian drone attacks by the border areas.

Russian war bloggers announced on Monday that the Ukrainian forces had taken attacks in the Kursk region, attacking missiles and passing special vehicles through mine fields in this border area. Bloggers also published maps depicting the alleged attempt of the Ukrainian forces to cross the Russian border in two places towards the Russian village of Tytkino. One of the Russian war bloggers said on Tuesday that the advance of the Ukrainian forces near otkino was not successful.

The Ukrainian troops for the first time invaded Russia in early August 2024. In the border Kursk region, with the help of drones and heavy technology provided by the West they managed to occupy hundreds of square kilometers of territory and dozens of municipalities, including the town of Sudža. However, according to Reuters, the attack required high costs by Kiev.

The Russians began to gradually push the Ukrainians with the help of North Korean troops, whose deployment in Russia Moscow – and shortly after it Pyongyang – for the first time confirmed only at the end of April.

At the same time, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army Valeri Gerasimov said that the Russian troops pushed the Ukrainian soldiers from the Kursk region and freed this territory, but this was then denied Ukrainian officials. Gerasimov also said that Russian forces are creating a buffer zone in the neighboring Ukrainian area.

Kiev did not admit that his forces were pushed out of the Kursk region and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenya claims that Ukrainian troops continue to operate in this area.

The Ukrainian General Staff said on Tuesday that the Front of the Kursk region continues to fight, while Ukrainian forces bounced 18 attacks there, writes Reuters.
