The Brazilian government told a management representative (USA) that it disagrees with US government pressure to classify criminal factions such as (first command of the capital) and CV (Red Command) as terrorist organizations.

The message was given during a visit by American diplomat David Gamble ,. He was on Tuesday (6) in meetings with technicians from.

“We do not consider the factions terrorist organizations. First, because this does not fit our legal system, and our factions do not act in defense of a cause or ideology. They seek profit through the most varied illicit,” said National Secretary of Public Security, Mário Sarrubbo, who did not attend the meeting with Gamble. Only minor staff at the secretariat met with the American diplomat.

According to the secretary, Brazil “has been answering and works actively in the construction of public policies fighting these factions, including strengthening integration with other Latin American countries.”

In addition, he adds, Brazil against federal prisons, isolates leadership and has strong institutions, such as the police and the Public Ministries, who work to combat these factions.

Trump has evaluated the possibility of classifying Brazilian factions as terrorist groups, such as what he recently did with the Venezuelan organization Tren de Aragua. The measure is supported by Bolsonarists, who accuse Lula of being weak in combating organized crime.
