Meeting between authorities from 2 countries is scheduled for this weekend in Switzerland

China and the United States will hold this weekend the 1st meeting to discuss the rates imposed on both sides. The meeting can open the doors to the end of the trade war installed since US President Donald Trump (Republican Party) has increased the rates applied to the Asian country.

The meeting is scheduled for Saturday (10.MAI.2025) and Sunday (11.mai), in Geneva, Switzerland. The information came from the White House and was confirmed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

On the American side, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will participate and US commercial representative Jamieson Greer. Across the table will be Chinese deputy premier he Lifeng, the country’s largest economic authority.

Since the climb of commercial tariffs started by the Trump administration in April, the two great global powers have not conversations on the subject.

The Chinese retaliated by imposing their own tariffs on the Americans, and what happened was a change of barbs and protectionist measures.

A few weeks after increasing rates on Chinese products, Trump said he was sought by the Beijing government to negotiate and that the parties were talking daily. This version was denied by the Chinese government and Greer himself.

Only last week did China report that. The condition of the Chinese to start the negotiations is that the White House immediately end unilateral measures and treat the country “With respect and sincerity”.
