Ideal conditions for growing pieris
Although it is ideal for Pieris, it will grow well in the sun or in the shade. The soil prefers to be acidic, or with a pH rather lower. It is therefore suitable to fertilize it fertilizers for rhododendrons, cranberries and blueberries, which also require more acidic pH.
The watering needs regular, however, if you place it in the shade, it often has enough moisture and you do not have to take care of it. Fertilization is especially suitable in spring, when it blooms, namely fertilizers for heath plants. They are acidic, just like Pieris.
You don’t have to worry about Pieris even in winter. It usually handles temperatures up to -20 ° C. However, young plants should be protected from winter before they are well rooted and really durable.
