Sector advanced 1.2% compared to February 2025; compared to the same month in 2024, the growth was 3.1%
Industrial production grew 1.2% in March compared to February in the seasonal adjustment series. The (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) released the data this Wednesday (7.MAI.2025). It was the highest rise for the month since 2018, when it advanced 1.4%.

Industrial production grew 3.1% in March compared to the same month of 2024, in the series without seasonal adjustment. This was the 10th consecutive positive rate and the highest since October 2024, when it advanced 6.0%.
In accumulated of the year, industry grew 1.9%. In 12 months, it advanced 3.1%.
High of 1.2% in March
The 1.2% increase in March compared to February is due to the growth of the following activities:
- bun, petroleum products and biofuels (3.4%);
- extractive industries (2.8%);
- Farmochemical and Pharmaceutical Products (13.7%);
- Motor vehicles, trailers and bodies (4.0%);
- Making of clothing and accessories articles (4.1%);
- furniture making (5.6%);
- machines and equipment (1.7%);
- Various products (5.0%);
- Maintenance, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (3.0%).
On the other hand, there was a drop in 9 activities surveyed by IBGE, highlighting:
- chemicals (-2.1%);
- food products (-0.7%);
- Printing and breeding of recordings (-9.2%);
- Metallurgy (-1.0%).
Large categories
March data compared to February show that there was a rise of 3.8% of durable consumer goods. Semi and non -durable consumer goods advanced 2.4% in the period. The intermediate goods producing sector was a slight increase of 0.3%.
The capital goods segment fell by 0.7% in March compared to February.
