A PSP agent was the target of a stabbing attempt this Tuesday at the AIMA door of Martim Moniz in Lisbon. According to the authorities, the aggressor, of Algerian nationality, acted for no apparent reason and has already been arrested.
A citizen Algerian attacked an agent of the Public Security Police (PSP), using a x-next to the agency’s headquarters for integration, migrations and asylum (AIMA), at Rua Álvaro Coutinho, in Lisbon.
PSP source told the Diário de Notícias said the aggression occurred “Without apparent reason”.
The agent was able to disarm and manien the aggressor and did not injure. The same newspaper further says that the aggressor was arrested immediately.
At the time of the attack, the police were on duty at AIMA’s premises.
However, through a publication on the social network X (former Twitter), the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro condemned the attack.
“I condemn the attack that today has been targeted by a PSP agent in the AIMA of Martim Moniz today. The authority and security of our police can never be at stake. Fast and full recovery to the agent and express support for our public security police,” he wrote.
