A, on Wednesday (local time), in response to the murder of 26 people, mostly tourists, in their part of Caxemira last month, which blamed Pakistan.
Pakistan said his response to Indian missile attacks was underway.
India’s last action adds to a long list of military conflicts among neighbors who have nuclear weapons.
Below are some of the main clashes.
1947: WWII by CAXEMIRA
India, mostly Hindu, and Pakistan, mostly Muslim, were born in August 1947, after the British gave the colonial control of the subcontinent and, months later, the two new countries came into war by controlling the Caxemira scenic territory in Himalayas.
India claimed Caxemira because its then ruler joined Delhi, while Pakistan cited the popular support of the region’s Muslim majority as the basis for its claim.

The fighting lasted months, until the United Nations intervened to establish a ceasefire line in 1949, leaving the two countries with the control of a part of the territory. Both still claim the entire region.
1965: WWII for CAXEMIRA
Still seeking control over Caxemira, the Pakistani forces entered the Indian part of the region disputed and, in response, India launched a military incursion beyond the border.
The fights extended out of Caxemira, in many established border areas, with camp battles involving terrestrial and aerial forces and some of the largest tanks battles in history.

1971: War by East Pakistan
The neighbors crashed their third war by the east wing of Pakistan, where regional groups sought independence from the federal government.
Thousands of people died in the conflict, which ended with India helping the region to separate, creating the independent country Bangladesh.
1999: Kargil War
The countries faced each other in the Kargil high altitude region after Pakistani troops infiltrated the cashmir administered by India. It was the first confrontation since both countries officially acquired the ability to use nuclear weapons, increasing the risks of a catastrophic war.

2016: URI Attack
India said it has performed “surgical attacks” in alleged Islamic militant launch platforms in the Pakistani territory after armed men invaded an Indian military base in the URI region of Caxemira.
Islamabad said there was no Indian foray into his territory and that there was no retaliation on the part of the Pakistani forces.

2019: Attack in Pulwama
India has carried out air strikes against what it said it was a training field of militants near the Pakistani Balakot city in response to a suicide bomb attack in the Pulwama area in Caxemira.
Pakistan, which stated that the planes had bombed an empty slope rather than a camp, launched a retaliation in the Indian airspace, which led to a duel between the two air forces, resulting in the capture of an Indian pilot.
The situation calmed down after he was released days later.
