The Federal Senate Sport Commission approved, on Wednesday, an application that invites the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, to explain, in a public hearing, “supposed irregular conduct” and “possible conflict of interest” in a decision granted by the Supreme Court Minister Gilmar Mendes.

The request, authored by Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), says that the decision of the STF who kept Ednaldo in office had Gilmar as rapporteur, and points out possible conflict of interest, since the magistrate is the founder of the Brazilian Institute of Teaching, Development and Research (IDP), which has commercial partnership for CBF Academy formations.

“The severity of the situation lies not only in the allegations themselves, but also on the impact they may have on the credibility of the CBF. The entity, although of a private nature, performs an extremely relevant social function for the country,” argues Girão.

As showed the Estadãothe agreement that kept Ednaldo at CBF undergoes a question. Expertise indicates that one of the signatures is false. The analysis is about the signature of Antonio Carlos Nunes de Lima, Colonel Nunes, former Vice-President of the CBF and who was interim president of the entity on two occasions. The inspection was made by expert Jacqueline Tirotti, at the request of the Marcos Dias River Councilman (Somos).

The CBF defended the legitimacy of the process and reported that it did not have access to expertise and that analysis is being used in a media and hasty manner. “The CBF fully trusts in the Brazilian court and remains available to the competent authorities to clarify any doubts that eventually arise,” says the Confederation.

Recently, he was reelected for a new term, unanimously acclaimed from the 27 federations and the 40 clubs of series A and B.

As revealed the Estadãothe National Congress has a “ball bench”, which has at least 22 parliamentarians from the House of Representatives and the Senate that operate to prevent Ednaldo from providing clarification to congressmen. This has already occurred, for example, in parliamentary commissions of inquiry (CPI), since he took command of the maximum entity of Brazilian football.
