Maria Fernanda Coelho runs the digital credit area for small and medium -sized companies and will be 2 years in office
The director of (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), Maria Fernanda Coelho, was elected on Wednesday (7.MAI.2025) the new president of (Brazilian Development Association).
The choice was made during a meeting held in Brasilia. She will command the entity in the biennium from 2025 to 2027.
Maria Fernanda is a Digital Credit Director for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of BNDES since June 2024. She was President of Caixa Econômica Federal from 2006 to 2011, in the 2nd Government of the President (PT).
Maria Fernanda highlighted, in her 1st speech, the relevance of ABDE in the national financial system. “ABDE includes public development banks, state banks, funding agencies, Finep and Sebrae, which represent more than 45% of credit in Brazil, in a market of over $ 6 trillion”He said.
The new president assumes in place of Celso Pansera, who also chairs Finep (Financier of Studies and Projects). He supported Maria Fernanda’s candidacy and said ABDE is today more “active and respected”.
During its management, the Association supported the approval of the development letter, the recovery actions of Rio Grande do Sul and the expansion of funding to innovation and energy transition.
The vice-presidents and members of the board of directors were also defined. Here’s the names of the 2 vices:

- Heraldo Nevesfrom BRDE (Regional Bank for the South South Development), will be the 2nd vice.

The board will consist of representatives of 9 financial institutions, including Banco do Nordeste, Caixa, Sicredi, Paraná, Bandes and Banco da Amazônia.
Born from Recife (PE), Maria Fernanda has a degree in Journalism from the Catholic University of Pernambuco and has a specialization in Business Finance from IBMEC. In public administration, he has already undergone positions of driving at Caixa, the Ministry of Agrarian Development, the Northeast Consortium and the Presidency of the Republic.
