Presidents of China and Russia have committed themselves to the deepening of strategic cooperation and the protection of the historical truth about World War II.
Chinese President Si Jin-Pching arrived on Thursday to officially visit Moscow on the occasion of the celebration of the end of World War II and met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Both leaders highlighted the relationship between countries and stated that their representatives regularly work to deepen them. They also commemorated the victims of World War II, reports TASR according to AFP and TASS reports.
“Mutual political trust between China and Russia is deepening and pragmatic cooperation ties are strengthened,” he said during a visit. “In the face of international … unilateralism and hegemonist bullying behavior, China will cooperate with Russia to take a special responsibility as the main world powers,” the President added.
“History and reality clearly show that continuing development and deepening of Chinese-Russian relations is a must for continuing centuries-old friendship between the two nations and the duty to achieve new successes,” he said.
Putin appreciated the development of relationships
Putin agreed with his statements and appreciated the development of relationships between Beijing and Moscow, which he believes are “(beneficial) for the nations of both countries”. “Our relationships are equivalent and mutually beneficial and do not depend on the current situation. The determination to build good neighborly relationships, strengthening friendship and increasing cooperation is the choice that Russia and China made on the basis of strategic interaction,” Putin said.
The Russian leader also commented on World War II and said that both countries would defend the “historical truth” of this stage. “Together with our Chinese friends, we firmly defend the historical truth, protect the memory of the events from the war years and fight against modern manifestations of neo -Nazism and militarism,” Putin said.
At the same time, the Russian leader said he would like to visit China on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan.
