During the instruction and trial hearing of businessman Tarcísio Araújo, accused of femicide in the death of singer Nayara Vilela, one of the witnesses heard on Thursday (8) was the domestic worker Maria José Santos, who worked at the couple’s residence.
Maria José reported that she worked three days a week at the house and met Nayara during this period. She stated that the couple often argued because of Tarcisio’s two sons.

“They fought because of his children. She said she didn’t like the children. That’s what she told me. They argued and he left home. Then everything was fine,” Maria José said.
The witness said he never witnessed physical aggression between the two, only discussions. However, when questioned by the judge, he had noticed any bruising in Nayara’s body, she responded in the affirmative.
“I saw marks on her legs. When I asked what had happened, she said she tried to jump from the second floor of the house and he tried to stop her. So they got the marks,” he explained.
Tarcisio’s defense asked Maria if Nayara had signs of depression.
“No. She was cheerful, excited, sang and made sure to show me her songs. He called him to dance in the kitchen. It was like that,” he continued.
Maria stated that Nayara took medicine, “but they were not controlled”:
“Once I arrived and found her in the kitchen with a hand full of medicines. She told me she had been raped by her mother’s ex-husband. I asked what her mother had done and she said her mother was next to the man,” he said.
The witness said she saw Tarcisio’s weapon a few times, always near him, indoors.
“I always saw her near him, at the headboard while he slept. In the kitchen, beside him, but when he left, I didn’t see the gun anymore. I don’t know if he hid it, but I never saw her scattered around the house,” he said.
About Nayara’s behavior regarding Tarcisio’s exits, Maria said she didn’t like it when he went to the shed (where the businessman’s equipment is), near the couple’s residence.
“She didn’t like it. She was jealous. She kept calling, calling, until he answered. She showed by video that she was there. […] He hardly left without her. They were always together. […] He encouraged her, supported her, ”he concluded.
After the statement, Maria José was dismissed by Judge Alesson Braz, who conducts the hearing.
