Violent crimes are rare in the Asian country
Five employees from a Tokyo primary school were slightly injured on Thursday after two men broke up, according to local media, which did not refer to victims among the students.
The men, who were in the meantime, departed windows to enter a classroom with students from 7 to 8, reported the station Fuji TV, who cited police sources.
The incident occurred in a school in the west of the Japanese capital, according to the public broadcaster NHK. Tachikawa Daisan School ‘Site’ indicates that it has over 500 students and 30 employees.
Television images of the educational establishment show teams of rescuers and police officers working at the scene.
Violent crimes are rare in the Asian country, which has a low homicide rate and one of the world’s most rigorous laws in terms of weapons.
On Wednesday night, an man was arrested after an alleged knife attack in the Tokyo meter, which left two people injured.
Several recent attacks shook the archipelago, including the murder in July 2022 of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which was shot during an election campaign speech.
