Amid the scandal of fraud at the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), the Minister of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), Vinicius Marques de Carvalho, defended investigations into the case and said that “it is always time to correct what is wrong.”

The statement was made in a video published on the morning of Thursday (8) in the profile of the minister on social networks.

“Since the beginning of work in this government, we have received the guidance of President Lula that CGU be relentless against any act of corruption. And that’s what we are doing. It’s always time to correct what is wrong, with truth, justice and respect for what you need most,” said Carvalho.

He also condemned politicization around the episode. “It is serious, very serious, to use the lie or context tricks to deceive the people, to politicize a theme so relevant to the country, which is the fight against corruption,” he said.

The minister took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to blame the culprits for the deviations.

“We are investigating who the guilty people are, when they diverted and how they will pay for the crime. The Federal Police continue to investigate and, sure, the culprits will be punished,” concluded Carvalho.
