The British police detained seven Iranians for suspicion of terrorist acts, Iran denies any participation and calls for cooperation in the investigation.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakčí rejected the accusation on Thursday that Tehran was involved in plotting in order to attack the Israeli embassy in London. Last week, the British police detained seven Iranian citizens for suspicion of “terrorist crimes”, which, according to the British newspaper The Times, were to be related to the Israeli embassy. According to the AFP report, TASR writes about it.
“Without any doubt, Iran categorically rejects any participation in such actions and confirms that we have not been informed of any accusations through proper diplomatic channels,” Arakčí said in a post on the X platform.
Iran offers assistance in investigations
“Iran urged the United Kingdom to get involved so that we could help in any investigation of trustworthy accusations … Iran is ready to get involved to clarify what really happened,” added the head of the Iranian diplomacy department.
Last week, the British police said it had detained seven Iranian citizens in two separate cases for suspicion of the preparation of a terrorist act and a crime against national security.
The Times reported that AFP said the aim of the planned attack was the Israeli embassy in London. Government officials did not comment on these claims.
