Parliamentarians and civil society organizations promoted on Wednesday (7) an act contrary to the amnesty to those involved in the attacks of January 8.
Held in Annex 2, the act takes place in reaction to the manifestation of Bolsonarists held on the same day in favor of amnesty.
In the mobilization against amnesty, organizations handed over to the Minister of Institutional Relations, responsible for the articulation of the government with Congress, about 180,000 signatures that call for the filing of the project that aims to grant forgiveness to those who participated in the depredations to the headquarters of the three powers in 2023.
The group concentrated around the bust of Rubens Paiva, a monument in honor of the former deputy pursued by the dictatorship. From there, the representatives of the organizations went to the Planalto Palace around 6 pm.
According to participants in the meeting, the minister encouraged the groups and praised the initiative.
Already the pro-administration was baptized by the organizers of “peaceful walk through the humanitarian amnesty”. The former president (PL) and the pastor had summoned federal deputies and senators to participate. The route was about three kilometers between the TV tower and the.
Boconists claim that the act in favor of amnesty will serve to demonstrate to society that opposition continues to mobilize by the cause, despite David Alcolumbre (Brazil-AP Union), and, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), by an alternative proposal.
This proposal would allow the application of lower penalties to those who were present in the acts of January 8, but did not plan them or funded them. One, subordinate to alcohumbre. The text has not yet been released.
The project of the pockets, in turn, predicts amnesty to all past and future acts linked to attacks on the headquarters of the three powers.
A member of the January 8 CPI, who was investigating the episode, Deputy Rogério Correia (-MG), said he believed that “the amnesty theme has died.”
“What may be, that the Supreme [Tribunal Federal] It has raised a hypothesis, is to review penalties, thinking that some of them can be reduced. Not even that I think should happen, because the people who were there were consciously asking for a coup, “he said.
Representative Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), who was also part of the CPI, stressed that the responsibility for the review of penalties is up to the judiciary and said that the subscriptions to Minister Gleisi aims to reinforce that there is no space for amnesty or Congress or government.
“To show that, if on the one hand there are a small number of people asking for amnesty, on the other side there is a mass of Brazilians who were victims of the dictatorship that say: We cannot treat the severity of what happened on January 8. This congress could already be closed,” he said.
About Wednesday’s concentration, federal deputy Chico Alencar (PSOL-RJ) stated that the act is not a response to the far right, but an affirmation of democracy values.
“We want to keep supporting the investigations,” he said. “A majority does not want this pseudo-age. Amnesty, with an inconclusive process, in progress? There has never been in history.”
Deputy Jandira Feghali (B-RJ PC), another member of the January 8 CPI, said he did not believe in the feasibility of the project to amnesty those involved.
“I think that archiving this project is a trend, because I see no mood inside the house to vote for an amnesty project, and the opposition will kick, because what they want is to rescue their only candidate.”
The Pact for Democracy, one of the organizers of the event contrary to amnesty, said in a statement that the project is not only unconstitutional, but it is also unpopular, “because it ignores the express will of the majority of the population.”
