Sausage products are loved by quite a few Lithuanians, especially during Easter holidays. Lithuanian healthy nutrition experts have identified the safest type of sausage that can be used even in children – of course, moderately. What is this sausage?
What sausage does not harm health?
According to Nutriciologists, the least harmful additives and stabilizers are located in a premium cooked sausage made according to the classic recipe – “Doctor” or “Children”.
It contains minimal spices, reduced salt and fat, and is also no harmful preservatives if the product is certified and made to state standards (LST).
What to pay attention to when choosing a sausage
When choosing which can be given to children or consumed by people with sensitive digestion, it is worth orientation to the following criteria:
- Composition: The first place of the list is meat (not a “meat product”);
- Absence of glutamate, dyes and artificial fragrances;
- Marking “without GMO” or “Children’s Nutrition”;
- Shelf life of not more than 7 days – shows naturalness.
Why is boiled sausage safer?
Specialists explain that the cooked sausage is processed with the least aggressive thermal, it does not contain smoke or carcinogens, as in smoked analogues, and does not require long pickles.
It is easier to digest, less salty and often has a gentle texture, comfortable for children’s nutrition.
Even the highest quality sausage is not a substitute for a full -fledged meat, so doctors advise you to use it as a delicacy rather than a daily diet base.
The recommended rate for children is not more than 30-50 grams per day and only in the absence of allergies for ingredients.
“It is better to choose a smaller quantity but of quality production. Check the composition, trust the well -known brands and do not give up a bright packaging,” advises the Lithuanian Public Health Center.
