FIFA (International Football Federation) announced on Wednesday (7), with Portuguese video of President Gianni Infantino, the eight cities that will be headquarters of the women’s World Cup in 2027, in Brazil. The chosen ones are Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Salvador, Recife and Fortaleza.
There will be 32 participating selections. The tournament will be held between June 24 and July 25.
The opening and closing sites will still be announced, but it is possible that both are in Maracanã, in Rio de Janeiro – or at least the closing.
All stadiums chosen also received matches in the 2014 Men’s Cup. In the candidacy report, the country had presented ten possible headquarters. From the original list, they were out Cuiabá (Pantanal Arena) and Manaus (Arena da Amazônia).
There is no information on ticket sales, but interested can register on the FIFA website.
In the dispute to receive the tournament, the Brazilian candidacy surpassed the one presented together by Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. In all, 207 FIFA affiliated associations were able to participate in the vote. Brazil received 119 votes, against 78 from Europeans.
It will be the first time the Women’s World Cup will be held in South America.
It will also be the first time that South America will have a tournament exclusively to define those classified for the World Cup. Until then, the selections were defined in the Copa America. Being a host country, Brazil already has the vacancy guaranteed. There are two more reserved for selections from Conmebol (South American Football Confederation).
UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) is entitled to 11 vacancies, and AFC (Asian Football Confederation), six. There are also four vacancies for the CAF (African Football Confederation), four for Concacaf (Confederation of North, Central and Caribbean Football Associations) and one for Oceania Football Confederation).
A recap tournament with ten teams will define the remaining three vacancies.

The 2027 World Cup will be the chance that the team recovers from the bad campaign at the last World Cup, Australia and New Zealand in 2023. At the time, the team led by the technique Pia Sundhage was not gone from the group stage, surpassed by Jamaica and France.
Now under the direction of Arthur Elias, the national team is in good phase. It was a silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games – there is Marta, a historic shirt 10 that retired from the national team after the tournament – and managed to break a 11 -year -old taboo without a victory over the United States.
In 2027, it will also be able to weigh on the shoulders of the women’s team the 2014 World Cup, when, at home, the men’s team suffered its biggest vexation by losing 7-1 to Germany in the semifinals.
It will be the tenth edition of the Female World Cup. The first was in 1991, in China, also the stage of the event in 2007. The other countries that received the World Cup were Sweden (1995), the United States (1999 and 2003), Germany (2011), Canada (2015) and France (2019). In the most recent edition, Australia and New Zealand organized the championship jointly in 2023.
The Brazilian team still seeks its first trophy in the tournament. The best result of Brazilian women to date was a vice in the 2007 edition, when they were surpassed by Germany, in the edition held in China.
Transmission rights are negotiating close to being finalized by FIFA. ESPN, Band, Globo and Cazétv made proposals. It is expected that conversations will be completed by July.
